Fathers day artwork + Khajas thread of artwork

Postby Khaja on Fri Jun 15, 2012 8:13 pm

Hi all. So its almost time for another "obligatory give your relative a present/ card day", and this year i couldn't be arsed (read cheapskate) to get my dad a card or present (plus i got hime a nerf gun for his birthday the other week anyway) so decided to do a painting. Theres a backstory to this one to understand it. My dad is a photographer and for the last 3 years he has done a 365 of photogaphs (at least one photograph taken per day for a whole year). He has a rabbit mask that pops up no and again and especially this year as he is doing a 366 of self portraits aha.

Programs used were Art Rage pro 3.5 for the sketching and painting work and photoshop cs3 for the background and post processing work :3.

critiques and comments welcome

A tileable texture (well ish, need to fix some bits) for the artbypapercut competition. Followed a tutorial in the Vertex document found in the same place.

Quite happy with this but will see when it's applied to a model/bsp in unreal

Hello again. As part of my third year at uni, i'm doing a handheld games design module. This is obviously focusing on modelling or prototyping for the ios platform in the unreal engine. As part of this we're set weekly tasks to complete. This week it was to model a vehicle to be under 750 tris. The texture isn't amazng and i could have certainly spent more time on that but overall i'm happy with it. Inspired by Rollcage and Wipeout Vehicles

EDIT, Normal maps achieved using the NDo plugin for photoshop, no high poly modelling needed

Don't you think a lot more detail could be acheived in the normal maps if you did use a high poly model to make your normal bakes?

oh probably (also sorry for amazingly late reply) but we had a week to do this along side other assignments so i didn't want to spend ages on a high poly model when i could ndo the details. if i were to do this again i would add more detail in the form of riveting or panels.
