About the autokick...

Postby Lord_Kaos on Tue Jul 08, 2008 12:31 pm

Hi people!

Tonight I was playing in donner (I was an MG) and I realised that the autokick (AFK) kicks you too quickly.

For example: I was in garden and I couldn't cover it well because I had to kept moving most of the time because it kicked me too quickly.

I think you should let more time before you get kicked.

Its set to 5 minutes or something? All you have to do is move an acceptable distance, and there isn't a lack of MG spots in the garden.

Hi Lord_Kaos.

There are specific areas on each map to autokick when someone is Afk, with time you will understand it is possible to move between them, after the warning, and remain in the game.

I know but the problem is that you can't be much time (in fact, you're allowed to stand a very shor time) in one place, so you have to keep moving all the time... and if you're using an MG, that's a big problem because you're more time looking for not being kicked that defending the area you're supposed to defend.

Well, some say that the mgs ruin the game, I disagree, but otherwise agree with this system, which on the one hand provides the coming of players interested in playing really, on the other calls for team spirit, in the sense that it is necessary help to sustain positions now, suppose that the need mg of ammunition or a nurse, not much more realistic?

Its not a short time! If your standing/proning in one place that long for the AFK kicker to kick in, take it to mean maybe I should relocate.

A MG alone, even if there wasn't autokick, couldn't do a thing alone, it needs support. But if you want to defend a position, you need a MG, and if this MG has to be moving all the time, he can't defend well.

I think the AFKkick it's a good idea, don't take me wrong, I just think that you should let more time before you have to move, so you have more time to think where will you move or wait for some backup before you go to another position.

Its note just standing still, its also not changing direction either that counts as AFK. Ie, feet not move, gun not move. It samples every minute so if it catches you in the exact same position/direction on each test over several minutes, you will get removed as AFK. This has been in place since DoD Source came out and always proved affective.

Do you mean that if I'm pointing into another direction it doesn't kick me? (I think i didn't understand that)

Anyway, as I said, I think it's so useful, I just thought the other day I was allowed a short amount of time to stay in a place. Maybe I was pointing to the same direction all the time ^^u

I've been working on this today and have an updated version going out overnight. This should resolve the remaining problems. :)
