Put him on a server with bots and turn on mimic. He'd probably call the bots cheaters too because they would shoot.

Know the map's chokepoints and get some easy kills.

may have been mentioned, but my tips are as follows:

1: Keep moving.

May sound obvious, but too many people have the idea that being a good sniper means finding a dark spot in the corner of the map to hide in. Whilst this may be good for you, it doesnt help your team much if you only pick off the occasional enemy every now and then and keep a tidy KD ratio. Get to the front line or just behind the assaults/supports at the front and take down MG's/snipers to clear a way for the flag rushers.

2: If someone knows where you are, dont stay there.

Another common mistake is to shoot from the same place for too long. Yes, during the course of the round you will probably find a good spot where you can get a lot of kills and take minimal damage, but the more kills you get the more people will be alerted to your position and so it is good to take down a few targets and then move on before snipers/riflemen/rocketmen come to target you specifically.

3: Prioritise your targets

If your looking over an area of the map and you can see multiple targets, go for those likely to do most damage to your team. Snipers/mgs should be primary targets, and then supports/assaults after those. If you see for example 2 guys running along, an assault and a rocketman and your only going to have time to for one of them, kill the assault. Hes the one most likely to be more of a threat to teammates.

4: Avoid popular sniper spots

Other regular players may know my favourite map is Donner and therefore there are two very common sniper spots, the two sniper houses on main street. Whilst these are good places to get a few kills from, its a bad idea to stay there for the long term as its normally a given there will be enemy snipers watching the windows of the adjacent sniper house.

5: Pistol is your friend

Often, people will consider a sniper defenseless at close range but the pistol is really underrated. It can quite easily take down 2-3 people at close range if your lucky and most wont see it coming.

6: Weapons lying around are your friends

Again, if you are alone in a building and you know you are about to get rushed, there is a good chance there are weapons on the floor around you from dead teammates/enemies. Its often a good idea to drop the sniper rifle in an emergency and grab something a bit more automatic so you can repel attackers. You can then pick your sniper up when the area is clear.
