im thinking of making a map for dod but what do u look for in a map on this game.

I already have some ideas to keep in the ww2 theme but would also like some ideas to see if i can add them to what im planning

:)

If you have a long bit where snipers can go make sure theres another way around with lots of bends in it (so mgs can be taken out with nades) for all us support and assault to get behind them.

Don't leave enormous open spaces though, or you get terrible fps.

tbh ohoma beach would be pr0, ive always wanted that for source, would be mayhem as in MOHAA, would even make me consider buying dod:s :D

what about doing something on the seige of berlin at the end of the war? would be original and you could use real berlin road plans!

I think you should make a decent size map - bigger than the current valve ones. They can get a bit congested with so many players.

I'd quite like to see a fairly big town square included, with quite a few craters and bits and bobs to use as cover.

Omaha beach is allready on there.

Something along the lines of a sprawling mansion 3 or 4 floors ballroom banquet room cellers Kitchen Study loads of stairs main stairway staff stairways, broken walls for access to different rooms and floors missing in some sections. Small outside grounds.

Good for a mixture of fighting with limited amount of space for MG and snipers.

Good DoD maps differ from good CSS maps on many counts, in CSS open maps are yawn, in DoD open stretches are excellent, in CSS camping is yawn, in DoD camping/supressing is paramount to victory, in CSS maps have to be somewhat even sided, in DoD maps can be loopsided because deaths are meaningless.

So an open map, with some well thought out but not invincible camping spot for supressive fire (ruins are great for this), with some sort of upper hand to one team to encourage courage :)

A good period would be the end of the war, 1945, Germany is on the retreat with poor supplies and morale, the Allied are pushing forward on a wave of succesfull victories.

I suggest a bridge map, with bombed out armored vehicles on the bridge and street, fox holes and sandbags on both sides of the bridge, lots of debris cover on the bridge itself, and some sort of path that goes beneath the bridge. and behind the German front line should be a command bunker, this is where the Germans should spawn, the Allied should spawn much closer to their side of the bridge, so the Allied continuesly have the upper hand in the bridge battle due to faster reinforcements, and the battle evens out a lot more when the Allied have to take the bunker flag.

Trees, bushes and debris on the allied side, ruins and destruction on the german side of the bridge, 3 flags, 1 flag on the allied side ON the bridge (not too deep), 1 German flag on the other side of bridge, and 1 german flag outside the command bunker where the Germans spawn.

The Allied side should not have too much cover untill they reach the bridge, it should be quite open, with only bushes and trees, maybe a burned out Tiger tank, this way the Germans would be succesfull using lots of supressive fire, and the Allied would be succesfull if they rush well.

How about a map set in Carentan? and a follow up map about the german counter attack on the airborne that were defending it.

I've always wanted to see a map set in or around Bastogne, that would be nasty.
