recommend some guides for complete beginners

Postby bigbmxdave on Sun Feb 05, 2012 10:41 pm

Does anyone know of any good tutorials for making tf2 maps completely from scratch? i've installed the SDK but opening it I had no idea what I was doing, I made a box and twirled it around before giving up.

There are lots of tutorials on google but I cant find one aimed at a completely beginner, anyone have any recommendations?

Then to find other guides you can use the following 2:

obviously, tf2 needs some gameplay mechanic... And for that search how to make valid tf2 spawnpoints and i would suggest control points (even though ctf is easier). The search function on the valve wiki works best for that as it generaly has the most basic guides.
Now on the workshop!

Postby Garner on Fri Feb 24, 2012 4:50 pm is a great resource and is always recommended :)
Also i like to use MapCore for some design theory and general gameplay ideas:

However the Valve developed wiki is the best option :)
Currently mapping: pl_range
Version: pre_alpha / design stage
