Polycount hat blueprints

There's rumour flying around that the new hats from the Polycount update can now be crafted (previously they could only be bought).

Proof?

Apparently, it needs 4 x Refined Metal (the level 3 one) + one of the new weapons from the set (Shortstop, etc.)

Anyone want to try?

If you want to try it out go for it but these things are rumours and not facts for a reason.

Mm, Is it just me, or has these set of hats been completely crap. They are not worth ANYTHING in trading circles. Seeing as they were new, I would of thought we would be looking at 3-4 hats for each one. The way its been going is these hats are worth as much as the first set of hats that came out :/
Oh well, more hats for I guess :D

The simple reason is that anyone with the hats would have counted as a pay-to-win player. People didnt realy like that. And you might have seen alot of those hats but only a few were by drops. Where they might be rare for trading they arent that valuable due to the status they have.

The most rare items are: bills hat, max hat, medal. and maybe in a few weeks the paper bag.

I think i'll keep crafting random hats until i find all weapons for a set, then i'll craft the hat to complete it.

I don't have all the set bonuses to hand (can't be bothered opening the wiki) but apart from the feared 'pay to win' stigma (I don't think there's anything stopping people buying an item whilst not in a server and say it dropped but hey-ho) the new hats aren't on the list of things people have been wanting to get for ages. When looking at the set bonuses, something like the Spy hat probably wouldn't be traded because it makes the set quite nifty if you're a DR Spy but the Sniper weapon combos used for the set bonus is just... well, stupid and people don't want to go out of their way to trade for it. That's just my thinking of it anyway.

The Pyro set could be quite good for just running in, setting stuff on fire and then running away again but it doesn't really improve much I suppose. I still say that the Spy set makes the Dead Ringer just freakin' AWESOME!

Degreaser have reduced afterburn damage and whole set increase bullet damage you take, so no. More speed = better avoidance and better chance at catching running enemies. Eternal Reward with Dead Ringer works only if other team is really bad, getting first kill without real cloak and ability to stalk-stab is night impossible.

Scout on the other hand screams OP with absolutely no downsides. Soldier one is mainly useless (but still, if you have 2 BBBB soldiers, the one with hat do have advantage). Sniper one is just for trolling. The problem is hats should always be purely cosmetical, sets aren't bad idea but they shouldn't need headgear to work!

Well I guess when those specific hats would drop as often as weapons (or crates) and would be easy to craft, like the polyweapons, there wouldn't be a problem.
But as it is not like I want it to be, your idea would be better.

Screw that, im going for more, but I will ensure I receive at least 4 before i trade it away :) as in, get 4 for no item, then trade the fez for the remaining hats
