vanilla should mean just default settings, so new maps, unlocks, crits enabled etc. thats what ive been asking for as long as i've been playing on ukcs :C

24/7 maps is bad enough, but you have to understand that if you can't FULLY change the game back to its original state (especially when it comes to heavy damage increase and wind-up time decrease) that certain classes will be op because others don't have the tools to counter any kind of change that has been done. I don't like it.

as far as ive been lead to believe we have a nice wee mod that will revert all the wee weapon changes back to when TF2 was first released mr jesus

I haven't tried this so-called Turbine Pro, but I really hate normal Turbine. It's bland and boring and 90% of the time ends up with one or both sides camping in their respective halves with a disgusting amount of sentries. One of my least favourite maps on the rotation, certainly my most hated CTF map. Meh.

if thats the truth i still have an awfully OP demoman with unlimited ammo (soldier too) to complain about. and an UP pyro. And a boring engineer with slow teleporters.

The Pro version is a lot better. It adds a route from mid to the main route to intel, ending on the bit where engies set up in the corridor. Added to that is a redesigned vent exit with a ledge so you can walk around it. Much less turtling and more routes make for a happy apache.

I like Granary, but it doesn't benefit much from vanilla respawn because it's not that hard to cap with 24 players fast spawn. I'm probably not going to be tempted away from #2 permanently unless this new server has no crits as well, as they're my main complaint.

For sure I will try out vanilla mode, but why is this not starting until the 16th? That's ages.

You're a bit lost Kerch :)

There are two trials coming up. Starting on the 9th, for a week, server #6 will be Vanilla mode, and only the six original TF2 maps (the same ones the poor suckers on the PS3/360 are still playing).

Then, for a week, server #6 will be 24/7 Granary/Turbine (with Turbine Pro at night) but not Vanilla.

Then, the fight begins! :P

Hm, Turbine is probably my favourite map, I have never played the pro one, but would like to.

I don't like the 24/7 thing and don't really care for vanilla thing either :)

I like Turbine.

Maps like cp_steel are all very well but they take a while to learn and I've got to be in the right mood. I can get frustrated dying all the time simply because I'm lost. I die enough anyway :P

Maybe there is a case for putting them on so they can be learnt....painful though that might be!

I do like the idea of this vanilla mode as long as I still get random item drops while I play. Looking forward to it and love Turbine and the Pro version. See you all on the battlefield.

I happen to love turbine and granary. Think I found a new home for that week. Not such a fan of vanilla, although i use mostly vanilla set ups. Think the novelty will wear off quite quickly.

As far as I know (with my extremely limited Source knowledge) the server will still count as a pure server so yes, you'll still get your drops.


EDIT: Failing that, if you play TF2 regularly you'll get your weekly drops within a couple of days which still leaves 5 days of hardcore new-#6 action!
