As some of you may have noticed UKCS hasn't had a good end to 2016 in TF2 which is a change from past years. The current circumstances in the game been a reason we as a community can not competitive with the current valve system with this in mind we will be shutting down the TF2 servers. This isn't the end of the TF2 servers completely we will be running monthly events. on the day-to-day aspect of the servers will not be running 24/7.

On behalf of the admin team,TC and myself we would like to thank all the 1 million players who make UKCS great in TF2 for 9 years we have run it's been a pleasure.

For myself I have made wonderfully friends over the past 5 years it's been great place to play and laugh.

1 million players over 9 years - be very proud of that.

I can still remember (must be around 7 or more years ago) when I was on top of the UKCS TF2 scoreboard.

Thank you for the good times and good memories :)

Alan

I have been playing on the servers for many years (under the name of Marjorie Stewart Baxter) and was a life time sponsor. I feel I should post about why I feel the servers died. I know a fair few people will agree with me on this too. A few will not.

The UKCS TF2 servers were dead a long time before matchmaking… Most of this I am afraid was down to the silly plugins that stopped friends playing on the same teams… Yes, it stopped stacking but also was a lot less fun and people moved elsewhere. It is a real shame and the UKCS community disappeared shortly after this.

The servers also had some very heavy handed admins on them towards the end who allowed admin powers to become the better of them which was a real shame… UKCS was a great community back in the days (Kan, Xerxes and unspec) and indeed once you had played on them it was like a second home with many of hours enjoyed playing on the servers, especially dustbowl.

I made lots of friends (I won’t name them but you know who you are) most whom I have met in real life at Insomnia Gaming Festivals and had many LAN’s of fun. Most of these people including myself have moved across to Overwatch and continue to have good games while in Mumble. I have seen a few ex UKCS players on some other TF2 servers and no doubt for the times I get bored of Overwatch I will see some more.

It’s been fun and all good things come to an end… So long UKCS thanks for having me

James

Shocked to read this. A great shame to see the server's close after so many years but I'm sure there is logic behind the move.

Talan - don't lie you were never top ;-)
Dean and Podge - I miss the good old days!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Although I have not played TF2 properly for several years, i felt obliged to leave a comment.

I am 23 coming onto 24 now..

When the orange box was released I was only 14, and this was the time I first ventured onto UKCS servers. Many memories were made, this was my first real introduction to online gaming and culture - and the only time I have felt a true involvement with a friendly online community.

There is a thread on here dedicated to wishing me a happy 15th birthday, which I have only just found today courtesy of google. I did not even know this thread existed, but many people who I knew and who i don't took the time to wish a little chap happy birthday. I think this highlights well what kind of community UKCS is.
Upon reflection, my interaction with the hardcore TF2'ers of the day most definitely helped to shape me into the person I am today, so for that I thank you.

I am sad that the UKCS TF2 servers are closing, and the general state of TF2 at the moment also as I know now that the 14 year olds of today won't share the same experience as myself, being part of this awesome community.

To all of those that were part of my childhood - it was great to know you and again i thank you.

The list is too long to mention everyone individually - you know who you are.

Happy New Year, maybe the future be filled with an abundance of love and happiness to you all.

Naz.

Arrived at UKCS TF2 originally from CSS via DODS, and TF2 was definitely the most overall fun of the lot (you know that the [RS] tag in CSS makes everything better!). Sad to see this happen but as a now-occasional player of TF2, the system that's been introduced has made it unviable for most public servers unless Valve matches you to play on one. Happy to hear that the occasional event will still be run, it wouldn't be the same without any more opportunities to backstab Xerxes again :P.

Anyways, must get back to bashing zed skulls in KF2...

Pad.

This is sad but not surprising. I still play TF2, but by far the best time I had in the game (and really, in any game) was on the UKCS TF2 servers. My god how we laughed...I was in streams of laughter tears every night playing with you clowns.

I really did make such great friends through the laughter and banter too (one of whom even came to my very small wedding last year!). I think people had a really good time on the servers - they were full to the brim and we would get the whole server involved, not just play in isolated friendship groups. It was a really good time. Thank you.

A sad day indeed, but as others have said one that I think a lot of us have seen coming for a while now.
None the less I can credit UKCS and more so the TF2 servers for introducing me to a some fantastic people as well a select group of arseholes that I now unfortunately can truly call my friends.

I shall now use this as an excuse to crack open a fresh bottle of whiskey! <3

Hello all,

Sad to hear that the TF2 servers are shutting down. Lots of hours spent on #8 goofing around and having good laughs. However, I want to appreciate this fantastic community and its amazing players for the greatest hours and moments of TF2 I ever had. Hope to see you in future events.

To you UKCS, (Sips the champagne)

Nelson

P.S. Happy new year!

Just saw the post on facebook. I know I've been a complete stranger to UKCS for the last couple years but I wanted to chime in saying thank you to everyone I played with back in the day. I truly have some amazing memories with most of the UKCS regulars, From what we did server side to the multiple Lans we did!

So yes, Thank you everyone in the UKCS community ♥, You'll always have a special place in my heart! ♥

It's been a wild road, with a lot of ups and mostly no downs. Having worked with a large proportion of the admin team for TF2 I feel I have to remark - UKCS TF2 would not have been anywhere near successful if it wasn't for the tireless (and often unthanking) dedication of the admin team. Your enthusiasm, support, and friendliness towards new and regular players truly made UKCS TF2 a second home.

I feel thanks are also needed for the players who kept the servers full, encouraged new players to join or simply just were part of the phenomenal family on UKCS.

We could wax lyrical about the contributing factors that lead to this - but instead I would rather just remember the good times and the interesting problems that we had to overcome as a team.

Thank you everyone - it truly has been a pleasure. <3

P. S. Go to hell, Paddy.

Due to family problems I haven't been active in years but I still have happy memories of my time on the servers that got me through a particularly crappy period of my life. All good things must pass eventually but it was great while it lasted.
