pl_barnblitz_pro_rc2

I spoke about this in passing with an admin a while back when I first saw a cast of a game on this map a while back, sadly I forgot to post it on here, the below copied Reddit post reminded me!

Main differences:

- No Snow or white ground (helps with fps?)
- Warmer all round
- New routes into the barn at the last point.

It'd be nice to see it in rotation if at all possible.

Snow doesn't cause FPS drops. This is a myth going around since Obscure was made into summer (The reason then being that people couldn't see their crosshairs in the snow).

Maps like Viaduct and Obscure had FPS issues because of rendering issues thanks to the design of the map. Without getting into too much detail, Viaduct for instance is both small and full of natural structures so making functions which limit what the player renders (i.e. the objects you wouldn't see anyway) is difficult so they're rendering objects which they wouldn't even see.

Also, Hi. :x

Welcome lefty :welcome:

As for the map, I will get the map monkeys to have a look at it and see what they think :)

Having a quick run 'round it's the usual hack job of getting rid of the snow...

Serious people, it isn't hard selecting the snowy textures and clicking "replace" and then a generic grassy texture... At least replace the Soundscapes (the ambient sound) with something that doesn't sound like a blizzard? The extra route into last is much needed although offers an extra sniper sight line which lets one look all the way into the 3rd cap without having to be under an pressure at all. Adding say one of those corrugated sheets near the stairs maybe a cheap but effective solution to this -- There's already a nice Sniper spot overlooking 3rd from 4th, we don't need another. I also like the fact that defenders can't see what's to their left (that little room with the stairs) unless they jump up and check, allows for a good place to organise a push now.

I actually like that version of Barnblitz. The last point is not as easy to defend for red as it is in the standard version of the map, especially because that opened part on the side that leads directly inside the last point. That's making things a bit more balanced in my opinion. I don't really know what to think about textures, i like both versions

might be better to use the latest version which is pl_barnblitz_pro2

honestly with the amount of redstacking and demonoobs on UKCS servers it would be nice if first and last got a bit less choky, which is what this version does. doubt admins will add this since shit barnblitz normal version is still on rotation.

the tight chokes on last aid attacking medics too. because its so tight its easier for the medics to comfortably build ubers without being easily flanked before that final push in. i think this would make this map worse and easier to defend last. tight choke points work both ways and why this map gets played regularly in highlander tournaments. its actually one of the better balanced PL maps imo. i don't get the point of the fix?!
