UKCS Forum Rules:

Disclaimer: Administrators/Moderators reserve the right to move, change, or delete any content at any time if they feel it is inappropriate or unsuitable.

These are the general forum rules for use of the UKCS forum. If you have any comments, queries or problems and need to contact a specific member of the administration team please see this thread for information. The Moderation team will do their best to uphold these rules at all times. If you are new to forums in general, you may wish to read cerb's guide to forums. :)

If you wish to contact a moderator about a rule you think has been broken, you can get a direct link to each of the rules by clicking on the button to the left of each rule.

Forum Accounts and Names:

Multiple forum accounts are not allowed and they will be locked. Please use your main forum account to access this forum. If you have trouble accessing your account please contact Xerxes. We will need proof that you own the account, which would normally involve an email from the original email account used to register.

Link to this Rule. 1.  Forum Names

When creating your account please try to use a name that is clean and tasteful, any account names that do not follow that will be suspended if necessary.

Your username on the UKCS forum is intended to be your online alias with us- it is not something that can be altered as often as your in game name. In general, we will not alter it for you. Username alterations will only be considered if the alteration is small, or if it is to rename an account to a shortened/more well known version of your current username. This means that any changes must still reflect that it is you who is still posting. A possible example of this would be "CraKinShOt" wishing to be renamed to "Crakin", which is still obvious who it is, despite the change.

You are responsible for your forum account. If you let others use it and they get it banned then the chances are it will stay banned.

Link to this Rule. 2.  Signatures and Avatars:

Signatures and avatars must be kept clean. Pornographic, gore or racist sigs are not acceptable. Please try to keep your signatures 500 pixels (wide) x 200 pixels (tall) in dimensions. The maximum file sizes are 300kb (kilobytes) for still signatures and 1.5Mb (Megabytes) for animated signatures. If your signature does not adhere to these rules we will request that you alter it or remove it for you. This also applies to multiple images in signatures; they must all (when added together in dimension) keep to this rule.

Link to this Rule. 3.
Account Deletion:

You are only permitted to have one account on the UKCS forums. This is due to the fact that multiple accounts are often used to harass, bypass rules, bans or other such incidents. This is akin to your SteamID which is unique to your Steam account. Forum users holding multiple accounts may find themselves banned.

We do not delete forum accounts on UKCS due to the implications that it will have on thread structure, and the possibility that a deleted user may wish to return to the forum at a later date.

Link to this Rule. 4.  Profile Information:

Please do not put bogus or offensive information as your profile information. Your profile is meant to be a way for users to find extra information about you. If you have bogus information in your account (for example, an incorrect age such as 100) then you will be requested to remove it.

Posting Rules:

Link to this Rule. 5.  Posting in the Right Section:

If you post in the wrong section we will move your thread to the correct section and Private Message (PM) you if needed to inform you where your thread has gone. For an overview of the areas you can post content, please see here.

Link to this Rule. 6.  Descriptive Titles When Creating a New Thread:

When creating threads please use descriptive titles. Using a title like "omg" or "wtf" is not really helpful to give people an idea of the thread content. Forum moderators will edit titles to make them descriptive if needed and please remember to add a little description to your post if you are linking to another website. As you're probably posting it for other people to comment on and discuss, the minimum you can do is to comment on it yourself at the time you post.

Link to this Rule. 7.  Reposts:

Reposts are inevitable but we have a search function on the forum here, so please use it before posting.
Reposts will be locked and a link provided to the original thread. A safe time to repost would be 6 to 9 months after the original thread.

Link to this Rule. 8.  Using Polls:

When doing polls on the forum, please use your common sense. An example of a bad poll would be "Counterstrike vs Counterstrike source". As you can see both are different games and should never be compared to each other. Also when making a poll you should include an opt out option for people who can't decide on what to vote. So think about the options in your poll before posting. Any poll that breaks this rule will be locked and moved and a PM will be sent explaining why that has happened.

Link to this Rule. 9.  Using quotes in threads:

The quote button is available on every post. When you click on it you may add to what has already been said with the post included above it. When using the quote button, please try and trim the quotes to the bit that you are actually replying to rather than posting the entire conversation over and over again.

Please do not post just a quote. If you agree what was said then say so and add something. Please do not quote the last post made unless you wish to comment on specific parts of it- the post you are replying to is directly above yours and quoting it just means everyone has to scroll more. If you are quoting a post that included an image, please try and trim the image out rather than having it in the quote. We've seen the picture already and we don't need to see it again to understand what you are talking about.

Link to this Rule. 10.  Dead Threads and Bumping:

If a thread is dead it might be best to leave it like that unless there is an update of information for the thread topic. Bumping old threads to bring them into view again for no real reason is not allowed and such actions would be classed as spam, and the topic likely locked.

Link to this Rule. 11.  "Not Safe for Work" Tags:

Not safe for work tags (NSFW) must be included in any thread title that has content that contains (including links to) any excessive swearing, violence, gore or unsuitable adverts on the website.

Link to this Rule. 12.  Pornography and Gore on the Forum:

Any type of porn is not allowed on UKCS, including movie trailers. Gore is not allowed as rule but we will make exceptions for Horror Movie trailers as provided the NSFW tag is used. Please remember that these forums are intended for anyone of the age 13+, and that would limit the amount of sexual references you make. This extends to linking to sites with adult content and linking to site with direct links to adult content.

Link to this Rule. 13.  Drug references:

Whilst we understand that some of you choose to indulge in recreational drug taking, we will not tolerate references to it on the forum. Any incidents of it will be removed. Serious discussion of drugs is permitted in the "Life and Relationships" forum. An example of a permitted thread could be "I think I'm becoming addicted to X drug, what should I do".

Link to this Rule. 14.  Disrespecting UKCS and any other Communities:

If you have any issues with UKCS then please contact TC so that we can look into the issue and try to resolve it. Please do not use UKCS to disrespect other gaming communities or clans. If you have issues with them then please take it up with them directly. UKCS forums is not an outlet for that kind of behaviour.

Link to this Rule. 15.  Trolling on Threads:

Trolling is not allowed. If you have nothing constructive to add to a thread then don't post on it.

Link to this Rule. 16.  Spamming on the Forum:
Spamming of threads is also not allowed. People who constantly make posts that are classed as spam run the risk of getting banned.

Link to this Rule. 17. . Abusive posts or Flaming posts (just created to upset people):

These are the worst things you can do on this forum, and abusive posts or threads will be removed and a warning sent to those involved. In the worst cases the forum account(s) involved will be banned.

Link to this Rule. 18.  Attitudes and Issues from other Forums:

Please leave them on the original forum and don't bring the issues here. This includes the chan attitude that seems to going round the net at the moment.

Link to this Rule. 19.  Posting about Illegal downloads, etc:

Posting about your illegal downloads or links to illegal downloads, etc, is not allowed on UKCS. Posting short clips from places like youtube is allowed but posting links to whole episodes or films (or similar) is not. Use your common sense on this one please, as this is an open forum. This rule extends to discussing how to download or use protocols (such as bittorrent) for purposes other than legitimate downloads (ie, downloading a linux distribution).

Link to this Rule. 20.  Swearing:

As a rule we don't allow swearing on the UKCS forums, but from time to time we will overlook it or miss it in a post. Please remember to try to keep your posts clean and free of swear words. Any extremely strong language will be immediately removed.

Link to this Rule. 21.  Bullying:

UKCS is an anti-bullying forum; any members found bullying other members run the risk of being banned from both the forum and gaming servers. If you don't like a person then try not to speak to them. If you feel that a member is deliberately antagonising you, please contact a moderator, who will do what they can to help.

Link to this Rule. 22.  Racism, Cultural and Religious Hatred:

UKCS is not an outlet for this type of hatred and we will lock or move topics involving any content of this type. There is a zero-tolerance policy on racism on UKCS and offenders who bring this type of trash to UKCS will be banned. Our forums are open to all, regardless of race, gender or religion. This extends to (but is not limited by) xenophobic remarks or comments and any material that belittles persons because of their race, religious beliefs or differing culture.

Link to this Rule. 23.  Advertisements and Services:

Please do not post advertisments on this forum. If you wish to provide a service to UKCS then please contact TC, by email or through the Private Messaging (PM) system. Any advertisement material (signatures, threads, etc) will be removed without warning.

Link to this Rule. 24.  Console Wars or Fanboy-type Posting:

There is always a console war going on. At the time of the post its the PS3, Xbox360 and the Nintendo Wii. We know a lot of you are fans of these consoles to the point where you might be classed as a fanboy. We request you leave the whole fanboy attitude off UKCS. If you think something is good and you are posting then explain why you like the thing but remember other people might not share your views. Any abusive behaviour in regards to personal opinions may result in the thread being locked.

Link to this Rule. 25.  Forum etiquette about servers:

Posting about server side bans on the UKCS forum is prohibited. If you wish ask about a ban or specific incident, please contact a Senior or executive admin about it. Any posts about bans will be locked and removed..

Player admin grievances should be handled via MSN with admin involved or senior admin, The forum is not the place to hold such discussions and all topics relating to such discussions will be either deleted or locked with reference to the correct approach.

If you post about kicks/bans on the forum, you will receive an automatic 48 Hour ban and/or loss of forum privileges for a period of time and repeated offences may result in a further extended ban period.

Link to this Rule. 26.  Mass edit of posts:

You are more than welcome to remove or alter your response in a thread if you feel it has been misinterpreted, blown out of all proportion, or any similar situation occurs. However, we will not tolerate any users who remove all of (or even a large proportion of) their posts in a thread for any reason. Not only does it destroy the thread integrity and make it hard to read, it makes it impossible for anyone new to get into the conversation as posts that have been commented on have been removed. Any users caught doing this run the risk of being unable to edit anywhere in the forum.
