UKCS Posters - In Game!

You will soon start to see UKCS posters appearing in game on CSS, TF2 and DoD. The contents of the posters will vary over time so we can advertise to players special events, tips, news and help players get the most out of UKCS. We will be looking to the ARTy members of UKCS to help design posters and the reward will be to have them seen by literally thousands of people. Graphic designs like "sig of the week", can also be turned in to posters where the winning entries will soon be able to be seen by thousands, not just forum users.

We've developed a powerful poster management system that allows us to control which posters appear on what games or even specific servers if we want. This means we can target the right messages to the right player groups. The more posters we have the more variety you'll see around the map. Currently we only have a few different types but we will soon have more variety.

This is currently live on TF2 and DoD, and will soon be rolled out to CSS.

I like the sound of this! A bit of community advertisement may help generate more forum users as well as give us some things to read in game.

Currently all the games have the same posters. But each game and even each server can have its own posters! We'll be increasing the number of poster types by engaging the artistic skills of UKCS members.

Right, This sounds pretty awesome since it will obviously help out UKCS, but if you don't mind me asking,

FYI:-I'm asking these questions as a TF2 player.

How many posters are on going to be on the maps (on average)?
Will we see these on ALL maps or just the Official Valve ones or Just Custom Ones?
Will there be "Sponsored" posters? To give an example, For Gaming Mouse mats or something?
Do these Posters effect Lag and/or FPS in anyway?
And the biggest question I've got...
What's the placement of them going to be like, Just around spawn so they are the first thing you see then you can carry on with the map without any more posters or will they be around key locations (Capture points ect) or a mix of both?
Asking this since I'm hoping its not going to be a case of seeing a poster round every corner I turn and also the posters being so in your face that you naturally get your eye drawn to them and that starts breaking up the game play :O

Reason I'm asking this is because I'm slightly worried about the effect the posters will bring to the game. I not trying to rock the boat, I'm just curious and probably too nosey for my own good :D

Firewolf - there will be no external adverts. UKCS is supported by its players not by "mouse mat adverts". No it doesn't cause lag as its very light weight. Everything is customisable including which posters are displayed and where. See the thread in the Art section where you can see we're recruiting for additional posters and theres more info about how it works. :)

Thanks TC for taking the time answer my questions :)
Glad there won't be "external" posters which was a slight worry for me and also glad it isn't a burden on people pc's. This sounds amazing and can't wait to see in games :)

Edit:- One more question, If someone puts their spray on the poster does it go on top of it and therefore covers the poster?

We've catered for this by not allowing players to spray their grafitti over/near to posters. The only server which doesn't have that protection right now is TF2#3 as it hasn't had a chance to restart to pick up the very latest UKCS mod version yet due to being full 24/7. :P

Just my two cent's.

But does this plugin have tha ability to have a random poster show? What i mean by this is that like the mani admin plugin were the advert's are poped up after so long in order of the adverts.txt, like that could this have implemented into it a random poster every so often?

I mean this is an amazing plugin as it is just by the way it is now, but if this was implemented who would play anymoere i would sit there for hour's looking at each poster as they randomlly went through a set cycle.

It's something maybe for the future, but i think if it was possible it would make thing's much more interesting.

O and keep up the amazing work ladies and gentlemen, i look forward to this being added in full force soon :P
