Creating your good own custom spray!

Postby Zeemlapje on Mon May 09, 2005 8:45 pm

Ok i am really bored now so i am writing this to all you n00bs with crap sprays, but this tutorial will be for PS 7.0 if you don't have it get the trial version HERE!

ok now to the tutorial!

1. First of all you need something you want. The best is to use a picture that has a background out of one colour. (I'm using a Cobra's spray for this now.)
Image
save it as a .tga make sure you save it as a 32 bit per pixel for high quality! (this file supports transparant background)

2. If you've done that open the .tga and select the magic wand and klick on the background
Image

3. Delete the selected background by hitting your Delete button and you'll get this
Image

4. Now select the image
Image
and copy it by doing Ctrl+c.

5. Now start a new file.
Image
(I'm doing 512 by 512 pixels now, you can allways do 256 by 256, aslong it's multiplied from 2 by 2, CSS will resize it to 256 by 256 it's self)

6. Now paste it in your new file with Ctrl+v.
Image

7. It's a little small the picture, right? let's make it a little bigger... select the picture and Edit>Transform>Scale.
Image

8. You'll get this
Image
Now you can make it larger by dragging the squares.

9. Now let's put in some text shal we?
select the text tool Image and klick where you want to start the text, you can make text bigger or use different fonts or colour with these tools
Image
and if you make it even better you can go to blending options by right klicking on the text layer and choose Blending options.
Image
Now i'm going to use stroke to get an outside colour, you can select collor and also make it transparant with the opacity, to make the overall text transparant go to the Blending options : Default
Image
This is what i did.
Image

10. After you've done this save it as .tga and if you want to edit your spray in the future i'd recommend saving it as a .psd
Image

11. Open CSS and go to options, import spray and import it from the folder you've saved it! and have fun!

If you're too lazy or still don't understand this, i'm willing to make you a sprayprint, but you must say please and say thank you :)

Just to let you all know, if you didn't know already that is - If you have Photoshop CS then the tga plugin is shite and doesn't save the transparency correctly. You can always copy over the plugin from version 7 (its called Targa.8BI) to the CS plugin folder (Adobe\Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\File Formats) I don't know if thats been fixed in CS2.

errrr CS doesn't mean Counter Strike in this case ;)

It was a pain the backside making Windowblinds skins untill I found out about that.

Thanks for the info Zeem :)

the point lol,

you could keep the background if you liked then you wouldnt have to save it as a tga just a jpeg would do :)

do you prefer a boring black background? :S
if you do you can just resize it to anything what multiplies 2 by 2...

Wicked M8,
I got a copy of APS7 last night and followed guide step by step,
This post should be stickied

i made a customer tag with a cut out grafitti rasta and mad txt but not only that but i now know how to utilise photo shop better

i went into a couple of servers and sprayed my tag about, they all had rectagular boring ones and they were like "nice spray m8, who made you that, can we get one" <-----NO, its mine

Thanks man, you got much respected skills and everyone should do it.
this is proper share and share alike

im new to this tag thing and i aint good enough to make one for anyone else just yet but give me time
you can make wicked backgrounds and fade it in but i found that transparent was more effective as it proper looks like ive sprayed a wall

nice
