I tried getting the old targa.8bi from photoshop 7 into photoshop cs
but its not working. Everytime i try to make a tga file from my psd (which has no background) the resulting tga file ends up with a white background  and i dont want a bleeding background

are you shure you did a .tga save? are you shure you cut out the white? or copy the layer from the picture and start a new file with transparant mode and paste the picture, might work....

i used full aps7.0 and worked fine as long as i used wand and when going to new i set transparent . i didnt notice that at first and then i checked this post and realised that the transparency option is when you go to new.

i dont know about CS but full its fine. i got a nice rasta on mine.
peace

After succesfully doing this with APS 7.0 full i tried with GIMP2.2.7 and that works fine aswell.

For the people here that cant afford 400 squid, dont want massive dloads and need to stay legit then GIMP is your answer.

This is not a plug for the software but as a free product with no spyware and 8meg dload i cant see why people shouldnt use it

It does have less features that aps 7 but for free you cant complain and there are still a good quantity of effects

I made my sig in 10 mins (5 mins to get the gist on how to use it) and it has full support of TGA targa transparent

APS7 = £400 and 100's of megs to dload even on trial
GIMP = £0 and 8meg for full with no spyware
Which would you choose

i use aps7.0 but rate this product so dload it at download.com
peace
ps i know my sig is a bit shady but for 10 mins in work with sw ive never used , its not bad

I completely agree Zeem, i got mine of a "friend" for free aswell.
He was called Dodgy-B@stard

but like i say . if people already have CS or cant afford full and need to keep everything legitimate then GIMP is good.
I prefer APS7 but also was quite impressed with the power of this free little beast

Peace

sorry ducky,

he's my imaginary friend

but on topic . for quick easy access to sprays GIMP is wicked
i tried some other freebies and filled hard drive with spy ware and the programs were poor (thats why i did it at work)

its cool though cos we just re image the pc's to get rid of probs.

I Love GIMPS

If you are still having troubles with getting Photoshop to save the alpha channel, then try this small app http://adam.wincustomize.com/articles.a ... 023#575650 purpose made for saving out tga's with alpha channels intact.

had to go and dig through my old cd boxes and found photoshop 7
everything is sweet now
so if i need to do anymore tga's then ill use 7
but will still use 8/cs for my other work (that is until i encounter any more problems)

thanks for all help and guidance anyways :)
