L4D vs L4D2

Postby Fireblade Stu on Tue Nov 17, 2009 12:13 pm

Guys quick question, will L4D still get played a lot on here? I dont wanna go pick up a copy on the cheap and everyone else has moved onto the sequal.

In my opinion , L4D 1 will die out pretty quickly ... theres nowt in L4D 1 that isnt better in L4D2 , except the characters and maybe the audio but those can be modded into L4D 2.

I would leave it a few weeks - alot of people will want to play the new one for the next few weeks as it just came out.

I cant imagine that many people with the new game going back to the old one anyway, but there will be some that haven't yet bought the new one.

Depends. I haven't tried importing the L4D maps into L4D2 yet (I'm not sure how, either) but if it can't be done easily, I might still play both. That said, valve claimed the new game would support custom made maps for the first game, so it should be easy enough in theory.

Atm, People are playing L4D2 like crazy, Because it has: New Maps, Players and Weapons....
Nothing is wrong with L4D, It is a good game and such....If I were you...I'd wait until Christmas, Steam could be doing special offers.... That's what I'm doing :-)

You shouldnt, the game is well worth the full price (i personally preordered a four pack with 4 other people so it was really cheap) and is a lot more fun than L4D imo.

Yeah same, mate got a 4 pack of them so only £20 instead of £27, ownt

Had my first bash on l4d2 last night, and its awsome, straight online campain + expert = ownage

Havent even past the data center one yet, so hard but so good! grenade launcher wins all! As bob says once you play l4d2 you wont go back to the first one, never.

But back to assignment work till i get them done, not touchin the game till christmas and give it a good bash!

So, now L4D2 has been out for a while - how do you feel and L4D v L4D2? I see all our L4D servers still in use and L4D2. But which is better in terms of game play and lastability? If you didn't have either, which would you buy?

Just installed L4D2 after it sitting on my desk since release (lots of work) and played the first campaign.
It was fantastic but I actually found it harder than the original, probably due to the fact that I meleed with the axe the whole way... Died literally as we finished the campaign in some Spitter goo.
From first impressions, the combat and amount of stuff is far better in 2, but I prefer the original characters much more and it's easier to notice the conversations between them etc.
