I've heard so many people talk about 'vanilla mode' with nostalgia I think I'd really like to see what it's about.

It certainly seems like it would play differently.

No unlocks seems a bit extreme. (But no more airblast makes me a happy medic).
As jesus pointed in the Turbine/Granary thread, vanilla should be default settings, 12v12, regular respawn, aka, TF2 as is released by Valve.
I would love to see "no crit" enabled as well, but that's a competitive setting, and i don't think it fits on a pub server.

I have mixed feelings about this.
From one side, i don't like it. As medic i love to be able to switch my medigun dependand by the situation, and i love the increased hp regen they gave.
From the other side, i love it. No more annoying weapons like airblast, lucksman, charge 'n' targe and other insta gib stuff like that.

I got a little excited to try this. Then saw there wasn't any Building upgrades for Dispensor and Tele's. Think that might kill the enjoyment for this, but nether the less, will grit my teeth and try it

EDIT. im rather happy. no level 3 dispensers, no level 3 instabuild sgs, no airblast. ALL POINTS ARE NOW CAPPABLE (although good defence is still possible).

One cautionary note: spamming demomen will be more prevalent.

How far does this vanilla go? do we still have the faster rockets that were in beta? I'm 90% sure they got slowed down at some point. Meh, not bothered either way, there are points to be stood on. Boom
