would have been great.. was on the server then the map changed to start the event, got the bleeping snapshot overflow error and could not connect till the event was over

It was a one evening thing. It had been running for 3 hours and I was the only admin on the server so there was noone to take over from me.

I actually reinstalled TF2 last night to have a go at this - could nt get a place (predictably) so tried looking for other servers to play on and couldn't find a decent one anywhere (all UKCS ones were full, my sponsor slot ran out while I wasnt playing and I couldn't be bothered to renew) is this a standard thing to happen now TF2 is FtP? If so I may not bother playing it for even longer.... or I may just stop being miserly and chuck another £20 at the sponsoring.
