TF2 Training Server

Hi all.

About a month ago, with a fellow UKCS player, we found a quiet/empty TF2 server on the net and we went through the basics of being an Engineer and Spy.

I actually enjoyed doing this, so since then, I have downloaded and admin modded my own TF2 dedicated server.

I now open this server (when I have it turned on!!) to UKCS players to learn how to play a class. THIS SERVER IS NOT FOR ACTUAL GAME PLAYING!! I don't have the bandwidth for starters to do that, and we all enjoy playing on UKCS servers anyway, so in no way do I want to compete with UKCS.

Tonight or tomorrow night, I hope to take a couple of UKCS'ers through the basics of being a spy, with maybe a trick-or-two that I know as well thrown in. They can then go back to the UKCS servers and try it out for real. It's best to learn a class like a spy when you have the time and someone showing you what to do, other than trying it for yourself in the middle of combat with your teammates wondering what you are up to.

If anyone wants to help me out, then it's appreciated. For starters, I make a crap soldier, so if someone wants to help me teach the soldier basics, like how to rocket jump etc, I and others would be thankful.

Let me know what you think, and if you want any lessons!! Microphones are optional, but would be ideal. English only as well, as it's the only language I speak.

To the UCKS Admins and Forum Moderators :- If you think that I am breaking UCKS forum rules by advertising my own server here, then fair enough. Just remove this post and let me know. But hopefully you will realise that I am not at all trying to steal away your player base, only offering them a service to make them better players on the UKCS servers. Try it for yourself and you'll see what I mean.

Welcome to Demoman 101.

Step 1: You have a 4 grenade PRIMARY weapon. Learn to use it beyond long range spam.
Step 2: Learn to use well what you learned in First Step.
Step 3: Only use Stickies when you have used 4 nades and haven't a chance to reload, or when you're up against a sentry nest.
Step 4. When all else fails, Glass them.

Ok, first training will be for Spies, tomorrow (Friday) night at around 10pm UK time.*

I'll do the training myself, or with Skyrails help if he doesn't mind. All are welcome, but the more the merrier.

If others want another class session, let me know and I'll tag it on the end of the spy one if I can.

I'll be on Steam Friends at said time/date, so catch me there for server info/password etc.

If you miss out on tomorrow night or whatever, don't worry, I can always go back again another day and do some more spy training.

After Spies, what do people want training on? Come on, this is for you. Expand your class knowledge etc. in a helpful evironment.

Oh I'm sorry, I think I described it badly, I meant I'd like to have training I'm not much of a TF2 player I have to admit, I have my good moments, but that's it really, still lots more practice to put in myself.

To all those, this is not going to be a complete guide on how to be an uber spy. I will just be going through the basics, but throwing in a few pointers that I've picked up along the way. It will be up to yourselves still to put in to practice what you learn, and to learn from mistakes.

Spies are fun to play. Backstabbing the un-aware sniper is a must!! Don't give up on being a spy either. YOU WILL DIE A LOT!! as a spy, but the general disruption you can do to the enemy team can be worth it.

If you don't already have me on Steam Friends, add me now, as that it what you'll be using to get server info off me at the correct time.

Ok. To update you, I am writing a written guide which is currently ~700 words. I do expect it to be at least double that.
I have posted it in the ESG forums so that this isn't just me - i can get a better list.
How will the tutorial be set out? Will we have certain setups? Such as: Sentries, how to run away using false illusion etc (not as hard as it seems, very effective).
I'll have a chat to yer tomorrow.

Imperium - I'll boot the server up at 9.30pm tonight. If you are on, nudge me on steam friends and I'll invite you in, and we'll plan out what you want to do. Hopefully there will be a few turning up tonight, so we can do some scenarios and stuff with them.
