HL2.exe keeps crashing

Hi all!

My hl2.exe keeps crashing on me since yesterday.. About 10 minutes of playtime and i am out .

I noticed more people have this problem. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

It's a problem on Valve's end, not ours.

So unfortunately not. Until they release a patch that actually fixes it, there's not a lot we can do.

They are trying (daily) to fix it at the moment, but it looks like they're having trouble getting to the bottom of what's causing it.

They will probably release another patch tonight around midnight GMT that fixes another one, but whether that'll actually fix the overall problem or not, I dunno. I've just been having fun with other games in the mean-time. Batman: Arkham City, here I come.

Play another game until someone says "YAYYYYY ITS WORKING AGAIN!" thats what i a doin.

dods and f1 2011 are having my playtime for now.. thank god i work 2-10 and my playtime is little atm

Well it is game pain here.. Trying to install the sims 3, but i have been doing that for the last week.. Updates make the game fail as well..

I will sit on the couch and be frustrated.

Anyone tryed turning "Multicore Rendering" off?

yeah that karl dude is pretty straight forward down to earth and that gives pretty insane insights in human behavior

I was playing 2 hours without crash today. So it seems it's fixed for me.

I'm beginning to wonder if the people who do the updates have ever seen the files before, or do they give the job to the newest intern.

Last night they updated the Halloween background. Instead of replacing last year's Halloween picture they added a new one and gave it a new name.

So, instead of it being silently changed for everyone, they did it so that all custom menus were broken and we all now have both versions of the Halloween pics sitting around on our hard drives

I've done a full reinstall and my game seems to crash everytime I open the menu to change weapons/hats etc.

I'm getting less in each time I open TF2 after this "update", before I could play for an hour or so and each time there has been an update it's got worse to where it's crashing as soon as I pick a class!

ye i played for 10mins without a crash now...and stupid me wanted to wear my pumpkin hat...took it on spawned CRASH!...re-entering tf2 joining server...picking team....CRASH...crash crash now i cant even play without it crashing... GO valve...the future for CS:GO sure is looking bright....they should probly have named that cs:hl.exe error, due to the fact they have so much issues with theyr programming.

Done this and everything's fine as of now- No crashes thus far to report.

The last time I played on Wednesday, I crashed after 10 minutes... I am hoping to play some quality tf2 tonight! Hope everything will be fixed by then.

ive taken off hats and misc items on all my classes and could play for 1hr and 30mins and yet no crashes...that seems to have worked for my part. but i still used weapons and it wasnt a issue.
