i58 - Attendees!

August Bank Holiday weekend may seem like a long, long way away yet, but since last year flew by so fast, it will be here before you know it.

With this in mind, I would like to start getting some idea of people that are interested in coming, or are definitely coming. If you can let us know below and answer the poll above, that would be amazing!

EDIT: Dates are pretty much Fri 26th to Mon 29th August, however, people generally come for EAS and sometimes stay till the Tuesday, meaning 25th till 30th.

Indoor camping will be available, but I know there is a pre booked UKCS presence in the IBIS Styles already (including myself and Spec).

As for myself, I'm going regardless of clanbox, although that would be preferable for me.

Cocktail Sausage and I are also booked into the Ibis Styles, but the news of potentially not having a clanbox has me nervous. Due to my anxiety disorder, being in a large hall is likely to cause problems and would put me off going unless I knew we would have some kind of area assigned to UKCS where I can be around familiar faces.

We're keeping an eye out for updates on whether a clanbox will be going ahead or not, so put us down as maybes for now!

I am going, not fussed on clanbox but having an area for UKCS is pretty much essential just in case some plonker decides to sit in the middle of the group.

This can easily be arranged with Geo/Kharne so long as number are confirmed a couple months prior to the event.

I believe Insomnia wouldn't be the same without the box. And the rest of the group I come up with feel the same.. Its not just about gaming its about seeing everyone for the weekend. So the clan box to us makes the event amazing.

If there is no box, we'll be doing our best to get everyone together, don't worry about that.

Whilst I'm not able to make it this year, I do substantially prefer having a clanbox as I'm not constantly worrying about whether I set the security locks on my machine properly.

Nevertheless, I'd say that the lack of a box isn't the absolute end of the world so long as everyone has all their stuff on lockdown.

To be honest, the event is awesome whether or not there's a clanbox. If anything, I'd say it's arguably more fun in the main halls.

So yeah. I'm happy either way.

The clan box would be ideal... but if we can't get one I would want all of us to be together as that is most of the experience

To be honest I am not sure, Clan box gives security and less people then the halls which enables Charlie to attend (Charlie also has anxiety issues and still has counseling for them). We have booked the hotel but subject to how the seating will work can not commit

I'm booked up for LAN, got a hotel sorted and got my holidays confirmed as well for the weekend August LAN falls on so I am all good for LAN. Booked myself into the Premier Inn as I got it cheaper than the Ibis

So I've had a quick chat with Multiplay. Clanboxes in the sense of what we had in previous venues - a physical room that's all ours is pretty unlikely for i58 unfortunately. This is simply because the NEC does not have much of that kind of medium size meeting/conference rooms - they specialise in convention halls!

However Multiplay do recognise the demand for separate spaces for clans/large groups etc. They are working on some proposals for i58. It's early in the planning stages at the moment so I don't have anything concrete yet (the bulk of their work is obviously focusing on the upcoming i57), but it seems like they are trying for some sort of separated area within the main hall.

Obviously I'll share more information when I get it, and hopefully it will address some of the security/privacy concerns compared to sitting on a standard row with other attendees!

We'll try to start gauging interest in the next few weeks, as obviously we'll need to let them know the sort of numbers we might be taking.
